This project was completed while working as a contract designer for Nike. Michael Jordan doesn’t race motorcycles himself, he did endorse the team. Each of the team members provided a list of information about themselves, such as their age, nicknames, hobbies, etc. From this information several illustrations were created for each team member reflecting their personal lives. The individual illustrations were collaged together as a ‘tapestry’. These tapestries were then used in different applications such as large swatches on shoulders of leather jackets and on gas tanks (click here for an example) of the motorcycles for the racing team. The designs were applied to objects using a laser etching machine typically used to get designs into the leather on Nike’s shoes.
